Shannon is a small town in northeast Mississippi located in Lee County. It was founded in the late 19th century and named after the Shannon family, who were prominent landowners in the area.

The town grew steadily with the establishment of the railroad, which brought commerce and industry to the region. Agriculture, particularly cotton farming, played a significant role in Shannon's economy during its early years. Over time, the town has evolved, diversifying its economy and welcoming new residents while still preserving its historical charm.
